Runningods Clinic

This year Marylebone Physio is launching the Runningods, a specialist running clinic at Dorset Square. Whether you are training for a marathon, a 10k race, want to get back on the treadmill at the gym, or maybe you are returning to running after an injury then we can help you. If your goal is to improve your performance, beat your personal best or this is your first race then you will want to make sure you are well prepared.

Using technology to record and play back your running style and gait, our physiotherapists will be able to guide you in the best possible way to optimise your running style and help to prevent injuries. This includes advice on clothing, nutrition, hydration and trainer advice as well biomechanical improvements.

Running Gods

What happens at your assessment….

When you come in for your assessment you will begin with a detailed discussion with your physiotherapist about your running needs and medical history. During this time the therapist will want to build a representative profile of you including:

  • Type of runner you are (competitive vs. recreational)
  • Distances you commonly run
  • How frequently you run
  • Running Goals
  • Previous injuries

We will be looking to obtain information about your:

  • Joint ranges
  • Muscle length
  • Joint alignment
  • Stability & control
  • Strength

Finally you will be asked to run on the treadmill and be video recorded, using the latest technology we will then analyse your video clip and create a report for you. The benefits of using a video analysis allows your running gait to be slowed down and closely examined, we will be able to see subtle but crucial movements that may otherwise be undetected. These subtle movements can impact significantly on your body when repeated hundreds of times, as when running and by identifying them help the therapist to create a very accurate training programme. We can compare side-by-side images of you with/without shoes or orthotics, to highlight changes in your foot posture & the benefits of correctly fitting trainers. Your report will tell you:

  • Inefficiencies in your running style
  • Areas for possible injury

The result

Combining your initial questioning, physical assessment & treadmill video analysis we will then develop an individualised training programme to help you reach your running goals, whether they are performance related or injury related. You will receive a full written report with still frames from your video to highlight issues, you will also receive a copy of your running video, and all of your exercises include photographic & video support. Depending on which package you choose will depend on the depth of your programme.

Runningods Run Club

In the hectic modern world the running community is growing at a rapid pace. Many people are now experiencing the freedom and convenience of running for the first time. The health benefits can be tremendous to both the mind and body. This year, the runningods have planned to raise the awareness of running as an accessible sport that can benefit all ages and be a consistent feature of our lives. Running should be fun and enjoyed. It doesn't have to be a solo sport and in fact, runners make up a significant part of the community. It is a great leveller of society that can be enjoyed equally by all.

Each week we have structured training sessions at times convenient to you whether it's an early morning shake off, a lunch time sprint or an evening spent getting better acquainted with Primrose Hill, we've got just the god for you! Only just discovered your running wings? A seasoned runner looking for that extra swoop? Our gods will get those wings to really soar!
